GIVEAWAY WINNER ANNOUNCED!
The Random Number Generator at Random.org has spoken and Dave Stott is our winner! I’ll be contacting Dave to get his new pen sent out soon. Thanks to all who participated. You definitely gave me some great new EDC options to consider and I’ll be adding more than a few of them to my kit in the near future. And again, thanks to Ian at Schon DSGN for making this happen!!
A while back, I reviewed the Schon DSGN Pocket Pen. And, spoiler alert, I really liked it. I still do. In fact, I decided that I liked it enough that I’d plop down some of my cold-hard greenbacks on the highest-end model Ian offers — the Clipped Titanium version.
I’ve owned this pen in various materials over the years: aluminum, brass, copper and stainless. Of that bunch, aluminum was my favorite for its light weight which made it very comfortable posted. I found the brass, copper and stainless versions to be a little bit back-heavy for me, but YMMV so definitely check them out if you have the chance.
The Titanium version, though, settles in nicely to what I think is almost the perfect sweet-spot for a pen like this. Heavier than aluminum, but lighter than stainless. Substantial, but svelte. Robust and refined. A great balance of weight and comfort. In my opinion, Titanium is the only way to go with the Schon pen if you’re looking to step out from the lowest-end aluminum entry.
But take a deep breath pen geeks because the Titanium Clipped version will set you back 192 bones. I get that almost 200 clams for a pocket pen seems a little high and I can’t speak to the overall “value” of the pen for everyone, but for me, having just ONE Schon pen meant that I was going to have THE ONE Schon pen. And I find an awful lot of value in this little guy.
So we’re going to do a giveaway…
In the photo above, you see a raw Titanium pen. Just as it comes to you from Ian. Shiny and new and perfectly balanced and oh-so-beautiful. And then you see my pen, shiny and… Anodized. Ian was nice enough to send over a brand new Clipped Titanium Pen to give away. And I’m going to custom anodize it for the winner.
All you have to do to enter is drop a comment down below and let me know what your current favorite EDC item is. It can be a pen, knife, wallet, watch, lucky rabbits foot, your dad’s old hanky (ew), a challenge coin… Tell me what you got in your pockets and I’ll pick a winner on November 7, 2018 and we’ll work out your anodizing. I will cover shipping anywhere in the US and Canada.
Thanks to Ian at Schon DSGN for sending this over!
