One of my favorite people on this planet is Mike Dudek, creator of Dudek Modern Goods, collector of pens, father, husband and, well, just an all-around swell guy. Not to mention, his wooden desk products are extremely well made, perfectly executed and infinitely useful.
So, when he reached out to me about doing a collaboration between the two of us, I squealed like a little school girl at an N'Sync concert and immediately belted out a resounding "YES, PLEASE!" I mean, it may not have been quite THAT aggressive, but I feel like Dudek was probably thinking, "Chill, bro. It's just a thing."
We started chatting about designs and what I wanted to see in a desk block if I were having one made just for me. I do a lot of hand-lettering, especially with the Horizon Folded NIb from PaperInkArts.com and so, naturally, I needed a block to hold my nib holders and a couple of jars of ink. And that's what Mike made for me.
Meet The Morse. It's a hand-made block of American Walnut with two amber glass ink jars, slots for two of your favorite nib holders, and a groove for resting your nib holder during paper changes so you don't have to set your inky nib down on your desk top. Yessir, we thunk of it all. It's your perfect hand-lettering workstation.
We launched this product as a limited edition run of 20 pieces which are individually numbered and are laser-etched with my "M" logo on the front, bottom right corner and both of our logos on the bottom. Snazzy! In addition to the block and jars, you'll get a straight nib holder and folded nib of your own to get you started as well as a 6x8" hand-lettered folded nib piece with one of my very favorite quotes by Leo Tolstoy, "If you want to be happy, be."
If you'd like to check out The Morse, head over to DudekModernGoods.com/The-Morse and check it out. You get a pair of handmade pieces from two awesome guys and some accessories to boot!
I'm so grateful to Mike for his continued support and encouragement and for the opportunity to be a part of this awesome collaboration.
